Demshies are demons that aim to make contracts with children, when a child asks for help out loud and in presence of a stuffed toy, a demon will posses the plushie and offer assistance, if the human accepts the contract is sealed and the demons will do their best to keep them safe and sound, if not then they will go through whatever perils by themselves.
The real objective of the demon is getting the human’s soul as payment for the deal, when the contract is over the human undoes the bow on the demshies back and they go back to hell. The human doesn't die, they just become emotionally numb. The demon could trick them into undoing the knot but that’s not common.
It's not unheard for adults to make these kinds of contracts, they are “cheaper” than other demonic contracts, costing only the soul itself, no sacrifices, years of life or rituals
They cannot be naturally seen by other humans other their their owner and other humans with demonic contracts, but they can be seen by animals, and by extension demshie can make any mammalian sound pretty accurately; Growling, howling, roaring and purring are all things your average demshie can do!
If the human dies before the contract is over then the contract is broken, and the demon goes back to hell with a lot of wasted time and maybe a heavy heart. If not, then they just stick together until the deal is completed. The human can keep the demon away though, by hiding away the plushie, but on the same idea the demon is free to get a new human.
